South Coast and Glacier Hike Tour
Duration 12 hours. Level of difficulty: easy
The breathtaking South Coast of Iceland is waiting for you. This tour combines the classic South Coast tour visiting Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and the Black Sand Beach Reynisfjara with an adventurous experience on ice with a glacier hike at Sólheimajökull glacier. We will take you through the lava field of Hellisheiði and continue through the southern farmland with a view on a clear day to one of Icelands impressive volcano, Hekla. We continue towards Iceland’s most famous volcano, Eyjafjallajökull, which interrupted travellers throughout Europe back in 2010. Our first stop will be at Skógafoss, a stunning waterfall with a 200 - foot, (60 meters) drop that has been used as a backdrop in films such as Thor - The Dark World, Game of Thrones, and more. We will continue through the glacial landscape of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, Icelands 4th biggest glacier, to the Black Sand Beach Reynisfjara, known for its basalt columns, caves, and the impressive basalt stacks Reynisdrangar, just off the shore. The highlight of the tour will be at Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier from Mýrdalsjökull where our experienced certified glacier guide will be guiding you on a glacier hike adventure. We will end our journey at the picturesque waterfall Seljalandsfoss, where visitors can walk behind the cascading water.
